Cauliflower Pizza Crust for Healthier Pizzas

Pizza is one of the most popular and loved foods worldwide. We enjoy that tasty crust, those tasty toppings and we repeatedly thank the Italians for creating such an easy and savory food. However, the next time you plan on ordering your favorite pizza or of making it yourself, you should stop for a second and remember this: pizza, though amazingly tasty and satisfying, isn’t healthy! The mix and match of different ingredients all popped onto a thick crust with gluten, fat and flour make for a hazardous combo. That’s why, someone invented the cauliflower pizza crust- so you can enjoy your favorite pizza without feeling guilty and greasy afterwards.

Fortunately for us, this healthy alternative isn’t hard to make. Ingredients needed for the cauliflower pizza crust are:
  • 4 cups of raw cauliflower “rice”
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/3 cup of soft goat cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • Pinch of salt
To obtain the cauliflower rice, simply pulse the cauliflower in a food processor until the texture is as desired.  Then, bring a pot of water to a boil and add the cauliflower rice cover it and let it cook for about five minutes. Move the content in a fine-mesh strainer and strain.  Now comes the most important part: move the cauliflower onto a clean towel and squeeze away all the moisture.  Then simply mix all of the ingredients in a bowl until you have a dough. Cook it in the oven and voila! You have a delicious cauliflower pizza crust.
Now, onto the toppings! To keep your cauliflower pizza crust as healthy as possible, think of only a few toppings that are both healthy and tasty. Use fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and fresh tomato  juice or fresh tomato juice with mushrooms, corn or any of your favorite veggies. What’s important is to use only around 3 ingredients to top your cauliflower pizza crust.
